Dana Bykowski
Managing Director, CitiesFirst®

Dana Bykowski is Managing Director of CitiesFirst®, a public/private partnership between the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) and Nehemiah Corporation of America.

The collaboration builds strategic local partnerships across sectors in our cities, ensuring they are vibrant centers of commerce while providing economic opportunity for all individuals. Bykowski is responsible for reaching out to mayors, social service agencies, community leaders and members of the lending and housing communities in cities nationwide. CitiesFirst will build relationships among all parties in an effort to find ways for urban residents to have access to safe and affordable housing and restore public land in cities nationwide. Through commercial and affordable housing developments, urban communities are strengthened and generate money for our cities. Bykowski works closely with the Mayors and their staff to set up roundtable discussions focusing on a variety of topics including access to home ownership, affordable housing, rebuilding communities, urban blight, providing financial assistance to social service agencies and urban redevelopment.

Bykowski also has a strong background in developing surrogate media operations for cabinet officials, members of Congress and campaigning celebrities in Michigan during the 2000 election cycle for the Democratic ticket. In addition, she developed and coordinated political media events and prepared briefings for Reverend Jesse Jackson, Kristen Gore and former Senators Bill Bradley and Bob Kerrey.

A graduate of the University of Michigan and the Ron Brown – Paul Tully Institute of Political Action, Bykowski most recently worked for Dewey Square Group (DSG) as a Senior Associate where she was responsible for managing projects and relationships among DSG, clients and projects consultants.

While with DSG, Bykowski also served as the primary communications support for the Partner America™ program. Partner America is a public/private strategic initiative between the USCM and American Management Services, promoting small business development and growth in cities.
