aside a small fund to address
special projects that do
not fall within NCF’s
standard program priorities
or application guidelines.
Nehemiah Urban
Ministriy Initiatives is
proud to administer and
offer this new financial
assistance opportunity to
qualified nonprofit organizations
in the greater Sacramento
area through the NUMI Compassion
Grant Program.
The mission
of the NUMI Compassion Grant
Program is to support the
compelling programmatic
needs of faith-based, cultural
and artistic nonprofit organizations
through small grants.
GRANTING
POLICY:
- NUMI Compassion
Grants will respond to
special needs that do
not fall within the Nehemiah
Community Foundation’s
(NCF) standard program
priorities, preferred
program areas or application
guidelines.
- Subject
to ongoing review and
approval by the NCF Board
Committee, NUMI Compassion
Grants are available to
both faith-based and secular
organizations working
in the Greater Sacramento
Area.
- NUMI Compassion
Grants Program is prohibited
from making grants larger
than $5,000 to a single
organization in any given
year.
- NUMI Compassion
Grants Program recipient
organizations must be
501(c)(3) federally tax-exempt
agencies with established
Boards of Directors—subject
to verification by NCF’s
Executive Director.
APPLICATION
PROCEDURE & GRANT REVIEW
PROCESS:
A)
The Application
All
applicants must submit
a 1-2 page request letter
describing the organization’s
mission, the purpose
of the project for which
funds are being requested
and the total amount
requested. In certain
cases (e.g., a church
that needs to repair
its sanctuary due to
fire), NUMI may accept
verbal requests for
emergency grants. NUMI
will review emergency
grant requests from
certified non-profit
organizations only.
Full grant proposals
will become the property
of NUMI and must include
the following information:
- Legal name
of the non-profit organization
- Contact
person’s name, address,
phone, fax and e-mail
address
- Amount
of request
- Current
Year’s Budget
- IRS 501(c)(3)
tax exemption letter
- List of
organization’s Board
of Directors
B) Application
Restrictions NUMI will not
approve grants for the following:
- Individuals
- Endowments
- Political,
labor, fraternal or other
such activities
- Marketing
activities
- Promotional
merchandise
- Multi-year
grant requests
- Organizations
without IRS 501(c)(3)
tax exempt status
C)
Grant Evaluation
An
organization selected
to receive a grant should
be notified of NUMI’s
decision within one
month of NUMI’s
receipt of the full
grant proposal.
D)
Application Deadlines
Grant
proposals will be accepted
throughout the year
with no application
deadlines.
